Dr. Michael Smith began his path to medicine when he graduated from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC in 1991, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. From there he obtained his medical degree from University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 1995. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1999 with emphasis in high risk obstetrics, endoscopic surgery, and urogynecology at University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Unit, Erlanger Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in Pelvic Surgery with emphasis in advanced pelvic surgery, oncology, and critical care management at Southeastern Gynecologic Oncology in 2000.
Dr. Smith was committee member at Athens Regional Medical Center on the Surgical Case Review Committee, Oncology Committee, and the Perinatal Committee from 2001 - 2002. He is also a Clinical Instructor in Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Tennessee. He is Board Certified and in private practice with University Women’s Services.
